BigCommerce — strong out of the box, without the app-fee creep.
BigCommerce ships with more built-in — multi-channel selling, B2B features, no transaction fee on top of payment processing — which means fewer paid apps stacking up over time. It's also a genuinely strong headless-commerce option when you want a fully custom frontend.

When BigCommerce is the right call — and when it isn’t.
BigCommerce occupies a useful niche between Shopify and a custom build. It is hosted, so you are not responsible for servers or security patches, but more of the commerce features — product variants, B2B pricing, multi-channel selling — are built in rather than bolted on through paid apps, and it does not charge its own transaction fee on top of your payment processor. For a growing merchant with a complicated catalogue, that combination can work out cheaper than the equivalent Shopify setup. The trade-off is ecosystem size: fewer themes, fewer apps, and fewer agencies who know it well, which can matter when you need a specific integration or want options for who maintains the store later.
