XML sitemap setup for Jacksonville websites.
An XML sitemap lists the pages you want Google and Bing to index. We build clean sitemaps that list only the right pages, submit them to both search engines and fix the errors they report.
What an XML sitemap does.
An XML sitemap is a file, usually at yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml or sitemap_index.xml, that lists the URLs you want indexed and when each was last updated. Search engines still find pages by following links, but a sitemap helps them discover new and updated pages faster and tells them which URLs you consider important.
<url>

<lastmod>2026-11-04</lastmod>
</url>
Google uses the last-modified date when it is accurate and ignores the old priority and change-frequency fields. A sitemap file can hold up to 50,000 URLs or 50 MB; larger sites use a sitemap index that points to several files.
Sitemap problems we fix most often.
Pages that shouldn’t be there
Redirected, deleted, noindexed or duplicate URLs, tag archives, attachment pages and thank-you pages. They waste crawl attention and send mixed signals.
Pages that are missing
New service or location pages left out because of a plugin setting, a custom post type or a page builder that stores content oddly.
Never submitted to Bing
Many sites submit to Google only. Bing’s index also feeds Microsoft Copilot and other AI tools.
Wrong last-modified dates
Every page showing today’s date, so search engines learn to ignore the field.
Several competing sitemaps
One from the SEO plugin, one from WordPress core and one from an old plugin, all listing different URLs.
Errors nobody reads
Search Console reports sitemap errors and “submitted URL” problems that sit unread for months.
Image, video and news sitemaps.
Image sitemaps help product photos and project galleries appear in image search, which matters for builders, remodelers, restaurants and retailers. Video sitemaps help video content get indexed. News sitemaps are only for publishers in Google News. We add the ones that fit your site. For Bing, we can also set up IndexNow so new and changed pages are submitted the moment you publish.

FAQ
Where is my XML sitemap?
Usually at yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml or /sitemap_index.xml. Your robots.txt file should list it on a Sitemap line, and Search Console shows which sitemaps Google has received.
Does a sitemap guarantee my pages get indexed?
No. A sitemap helps Google discover pages, but it still decides what to index based on quality, duplication and other signals. A clean sitemap removes one obstacle.
Should I submit my sitemap to Bing?
Yes. It takes a few minutes in Bing Webmaster Tools, and Bing’s index also powers Microsoft Copilot and is used by other AI search tools.
How often should a sitemap update?
Automatically, whenever you publish, update or remove a page. WordPress SEO plugins, Shopify and most builders do this; custom sites need it built in.
Do small websites need a sitemap?
Google says very small, well-linked sites may not strictly need one, but it costs nothing and makes Search Console reporting clearer, so we recommend it for every site.
